Lisa Moreno, MSW

Executive Director

Before joining El Comité in November 2023, Lisa worked for the Boulder County Community Services Department, where she co-led the Boulder County Behavioral Health Planning Team, which produces the Behavioral Health Roadmap. Lisa served as the Vice President of Programs at the Community Foundation Boulder County, where she led philanthropic responses to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Cal-Wood and Lefthand wildfires, and the 2021 mass shooting. She previously served on the board of the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network. She serves on the board of directors of the Humane Society of Boulder Valley and the League of Women Voters of Boulder County.

Lisa holds degrees from Georgetown University School of Foreign Affairs and the University of Alaska Anchorage. She has dedicated her career to advancing equity and social justice at national and local levels. Lisa led the staff work behind the passage of the first Violence Against Women Act in the U.S. House of Representatives. She lives in Longmont, and her roots in Colorado run several generations deep.

Trudy Navarro

Yesenia Garcia

Bookkeeper/Office Manager

Yesenia, a first-generation immigrant, grew up in King City, California before moving to Longmont. She attended Longmont High School, then went on to Everest College, where she earned an associate degree in accounting. She has 6 years of experience as a bookkeeper and administrative assistant at Wild Plum Learning Center. That job opened her eyes to the nonprofit world and fostered her passion for helping the community. Yesenia joined El Comite in 2023. She is excited to continue working in the nonprofit sector and using her accounting knowledge. In the future, Yesenia hopes to attend CTU Denver to work toward a bachelor’s in accounting and become a CPA. She is bicultural and bilingual in English/Spanish.

Rylie Ezzell Nelson

Development Coordinator

Rylie grew up in Marietta, Georgia where she attended Marietta High School and earned an International Baccalaureate diploma. She graduated from the University of Colorado-Boulder with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and earned a certificate in Social Innovation. Rylie has 2 years of volunteer experience at the Harvest of Hope Pantry assisting clients in need of food assistance. She interned for 9 months with the Boulder County Probation Department where she conducted client intake interviews and assisted in client supervision/case management. Rylie was a student intern at El Comité from August 2020 through December 2020 to receive credit for her degree. Then, she became our grant writer in the beginning of 2021 and transitioned into a Development Coordinator role in mid-2021. Rylie has strong writing and communication skills that are reflected well in our grant applications and in cultivating donor relationships; she also handles fundraising events. Rylie studied Spanish throughout high school and is conversant in Spanish.

Veronica Orona

Case Manager

Veronica grew up in Fredericksburg, Texas before moving to Longmont in 1992. She has 19 years of experience in the nonprofit world, as Program Director at the OUR Center. While working there, she completed a Family Leadership Training Institute certificate program. That position led her to community work and outreach, which quickly became her passion. Veronica joined El Comité in 2022, and she is very grateful and excited to be part of an excellent community-centered organization. Veronica is bicultural and bilingual in English and Spanish.

Yolanda Salvatierra

Case Manager

Yolanda was born and raised in Longmont. She has experience in customer service and 5 years experience in education. She worked as a teacher’s aid and a teaching assistant at Head Start and as the Lead Teacher at Shining Stars. Yolanda has a deep-rooted passion to assist the people in our community, and she has vast knowledge of local resources and organizations. Yolanda has worked in several positions at El Comité since 2012 – she worked her way up from Administrative Assistant to Resource Specialist to Lead Case Manager. She briefly left the agency to grow and pursue other job opportunities at BCAP and the OUR Center before returning in late 2023. In her spare time, Yolanda loves spending time with her husband and her grandchildren.

Alejandra Holguin-Angel

Administrative Assistant

Alejandra (Alex) was born in born in Juárez, México, immigrated to the U.S., and was raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She became a permanent resident through the Amnesty Program in 1986. Then, she lived in California for 17 years before moving to Colorado in 2005. Alex attended Front Range Community College where she studied Anthropology. She has 15 years of experience in the automotive industry and has also worked as a nail technician. Alex began working with our agency in 2023. She wanted to work for El Comité because she has a passion for justice and equity and loves helping her community. Alex is bicultural and bilingual in English and Spanish. In her free time, she loves spending time with her husband, son, 3 daughters, and their 2 dogs. Alex is very proud of her son who is a member of the U.S. Army.
